Well hello!
I’m Shameeka
Rooted & Guided by Purpose
I often say my professional roots were planted in San Diego, because they’ve been nurtured by nearly a decade of community-rooted experiences, incredible mentors, and a deep commitment to student wellness. As a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Licensed Educational Psychologist, I’ve spent my career creating safe, affirming spaces where students can thrive within their educational programs.
The Journey That Shaped Me
While my professional identity blossomed in California, my story begins in Texas — a place that taught me humility, resilience, and the foundational lessons I still carry into my work today. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies, from The University of Texas at Austin. Later, I completed my Master’s in Counseling and Education Specialist degree in School Psychology at San Diego State University. These academic experiences grounded me in culturally-responsive practices and affirmed my belief in the power of strengths-based school psychology practices.
